commercial and industrial steel buildings: Scale your operation with strength and confidence

For more than 40 years, Toro Steel Buildings has helped businesses plan, price and build commercial and industrial steel buildings with confidence. We’ve supplied buildings for Fortune 500 companies, growing mid-sized firms and local operators across virtually every industry, from warehouses and manufacturing plants to service shops and retail. Every building is engineered for the snow, wind and seismic loads at your site, ships with drawings stamped by an engineer licensed for your jurisdiction, and is built to U.S. or Canadian design standards. Red iron frames clear-span up to about 300 ft, and can be engineered for mezzanines and overhead cranes like the 30-ton crane bay in Technical Steel Corp’s 150x300 facility you'll see below. With more than 100,000 buildings sold and 30+ manufacturing facilities across North America, we deliver on schedule so your project stays on track.

Questions, answered

Quick answers to the questions we hear most. Still unsure? Our building specialists are happy to help.

Yes. Steel commercial buildings can be customized with storefront openings, glass systems, interior finishes, lighting, and layouts suitable for retail spaces, offices, and customer-facing operations.

Commercial steel buildings can be designed to suit many different functions. That said, they are commonly used as:

  • Warehouses
  • Equipment storage (mechanical components, machinery, heavy equipment, building and production materials and other tools)
  • Distribution and shipment centers
  • Car washes and commercial garages
  • Open-plan workspaces
  • Malls and commercial storefronts
  • Commercial office space

Absolutely. Steel buildings are versatile and can be designed for commercial operations like warehousing or office space, as well as residential-style structures such as garages, workshops, and even steel homes like barndominiums.

Choosing steel ensures that your building is designed to last. It will be able to withstand extreme weather conditions, including rain, hail, and high winds, as well as meet the snow and seismic loads for your area. Unlike wood, steel is also not susceptible to damage caused by infestations, fire, and mold. Finally, metal requires much less maintenance over its lifespan.

The following are just a few of the benefits of installing a prefab commercial steel building:

  • Commercial steel buildings are built to last. Our commercial steel buildings can last for decades.
  • Their durability ensures that your business assets will be protected from extreme weather damage.
  • Steel buildings are easy to keep clean and require little maintenance.
  • Steel buildings are more cost-effective than wood buildings.
  • If your business requires expansion, having a prefab metal commercial building makes remodeling much easier. You can add to the length of arch-style steel buildings to create any size you need.

Toro’s commercial steel buildings start at $19 per sq ft (USD) or $26 per sq ft (CAD) for the steel building kit, and every building is quoted to make sure it meets the loads and codes for your location and use. Each kit ships pre-cut and pre-drilled with engineer-stamped drawings for your permit, and delivery usually takes 2 to 8 weeks (your building specialist confirms timing). Size, doors, insulation and the snow, wind and seismic loads at your site have a big impact on the final price
